24-Hour Game-A-Thon for Yonge Street Mission
I'll be participating in the Cardboard Koinonia 24-Hour Game-A-Thon in support of Yonge Street Mission, from 9:00pm on Sep 22 to 9:00pm on Sep 23. Funds raised will be going towards the Evergreen Centre, which this year will be moving from Yonge Street over to Spadina.
I'm planning on gaming for the FULL 24 hours that the event will be running, but I could certainly use some encouragement. I'm hoping to raise $50 per hour that I'll be playing, for a total of $1,200. I am grateful for all donations of any amount, but if you're looking for some imspiration:
- $10 will sponsor me for 12 minutes of gaming,
- $20 will cover 24 minutes,
- $25 will cover half an hour, and
- $50 will cover a full hour.
Evergreen Drop-in is a program of The Yonge Street Mission, a not-for-profit Christian faith community, that provides compassionate and non-judgmental programs to homeless and street-involved youth between 16 and 24 years of age. Programs offered include Drop-In, where they can have a warm lunch, play some pool or foosball, have some coffee and receive assistance in taking the next step towards getting themselves off the street. Art Programs, as well as Music/Dance are are provided to help teens with expression. Evergreen also provides professional counselling, substance use support, legal counsel, and life skills training. The Yonge Street Mission (YSM) will be moving Evergreen Centre to a new location, which will offer expanded services designed to accommodate the needs of Toronto’s street-involved youth and other vulnerable populations.
